American Council on Exercise. The GetFit section of this site provides information for the general public about working out, eating well and finding ACE-certified trainers and gyms.

American College of Sports Medicine. Information for women, youth and seniors about starting and maintaining an exercise program.

HealthierUS. The HealthierUS initiative is a national effort to improve people's lives, prevent and reduce the costs of disease, and promote community health and wellness. On HealthierUS.gov you will learn how to: make physical activity a part of your day, eat more healthy foods, protect yourself and your family from illness, and avoid risks to your health and the health of your loved ones.

Maine In Motion. The Governor’s Council on Physical Activity was founded to improve the health of Mainers, as well as to promote the benefits of physical activity. You can participate in the FREE Maine in Motion program in a number of ways. 

  1. Log your daily activity on your personal fitness calendar.
  2. Take part in a virtual tour (two new tours featured every month).
  3. Take part in one of the Governor’s Challenges, offering you three different levels of activity to strive for.

March Into May. March into May is a FREE, 10-week program, designed to help you improve your health by increasing your physical activity. The Maine-based program helps you start at a place that’s right for you and then moves you forward from there. You’ll be part of a community-based team to provide support and an exercise buddy. You don’t need any fancy gym equipment or special gadgets. You just do what you love to do, so anyone can participate and be successful.

Move & Improve. March is the time to add more movement in your life. Take 12 weeks and see if you can make moderate physical activity a health habit for you and your family.
